Editorial follow-up: verify a remote job before sharing sensitive details
Find the employer's website independently and check whether the role and recruiter can be verified through an official channel. Treat requests to pay an employer to get a job, buy equipment by returning part of a cheque, or send cryptocurrency to unlock task earnings as serious warning signs.
The FTC job-scam guidance describes these patterns. Keep identity and banking documents out of forum posts, and only provide necessary onboarding information through a verified process. A polished message or realistic company logo is not proof that the sender represents the business.
