Software directories and launch submissions: compare audience fit

#1
For a software launch, which directories or community submission pages are worth considering? I would start with the product's actual audience and the task it supports.

The planning sheet could record the destination's audience, relevant category, submission requirements, commercial terms, maintenance process and the resource being shared. A description should explain what the product does without inventing adoption or reviews.

Members can suggest a relevant destination and explain who uses it. Directory operators or launch-service providers should disclose their connection. This is a discussion of a submission plan, not a live launch campaign or a request for fabricated votes, ratings or testimonials.

Try browsing the category as a prospective user. That helps establish whether the destination is a useful discovery resource rather than just a form that accepts URLs.

I would also inspect whether outdated product details can be corrected after publication.

Check the community's contribution rules before writing the announcement. A useful introduction may need an example, a direct explanation and someone available to answer questions.

Repasting the same promotional message everywhere can miss what each audience actually wants to know.

The submission plan should contain an audience-specific description and a maintenance owner for each selected destination.

That turns a list of opportunities into a manageable project. The review can then focus on useful public information instead of an inflated count of submissions.
